Although the coronavirus is an extremely serious health issue affecting the entire world, and governments are working with the private sector to combat the virus and save lives, the liberal media in America are largely exploiting the pandemic to smear President Donald Trump as a “failure.”
Some news outlets are so blind in their hatred of Trump they have called on him to resign, described him as “pathological,” a “sociopath,” and gleefully discussed how the damage from the virus can help the Democrats in 2020.
The MRC is documenting and exposing this liberal media bias every day through its divisions: NewsBusters, MRC Business, MRC Latino, MRCTV, and CNSNews.com. The MRC, America’s Media Watchdog, is the only organization that is holding the leftist press accountable — a David fighting against a multibillion dollar liberal media Goliath.
The coronavirus is forcing events to change rapidly, day to day. But let’s look at some examples of how the leftist press is exploiting the pandemic to attack the president.
“The coronavirus is a serious health issue. Americans will rally together as a nation to defeat it and save lives. But the liberal media don’t see it that way. It’s political to them, a means they can use to tear down President Trump and cripple his chance of reelection. That is their only goal.”

On March 9, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough railed that the White House was “not in touch with reality” and that the administration’s “stupidity” is “going to kill Americans.” Guest Al Sharpton agreed and complained that the president wearing a “USA” hat while briefing reporters was “as callous and immoral and as sick as one can be.”
Also on Morning Joe, the ever-hysterical Donny Deutsch screeched that Trump’s remarks on the virus were not reassuring but “one more instance of his sociopathic behavior.”
On MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, host Nicolle Wallace and Princeton Prof. Eddie Glaude were practically rooting for more Americans to die from the virus so it could be Trump’s “Katrina.”
[The pandemic] “could be the silver bullet that takes out this administration.”

ABC’S THE VIEW
On MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show, former Biden aide Ron Klain dubbed the situation “a failure of leadership by the president and task force.” On MSNBC Live, Washington Post columnist Brian Klaas claimed that Trump’s handling of coronavirus was like the Soviet’s handling of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor meltdown, i.e., Trump is trying to hide the truth from the public. New York Times fake-conservative Bret Stephens predictably agreed, adding that “this has been a truth-optional presidency from the beginning.”
The CBS Evening News, March 9, ran a clip of Trump shaking hands with some supporters and remarked that he was “publicly defying government recommendations on hygiene.” CBS also complained that Trump had not cancelled any of his rallies and only later in the segment noted that neither Joe Biden nor Bernie Sanders had stopped campaigning.
On ABC’s The View, Joy Behar enthusiastically predicted that the pandemic “could be the end of [Trump’s] whole” presidency, “he won’t get reelected because of this.” On a separate broadcast, Behar asked, “Don’t you think this is a good time for him to resign?” Co-host Meghan McCain, who despises Trump, said the pandemic “could be the silver bullet that takes out this administration.”
Brian Szoka, the president of TechFreedom, a major Googlefunded think tank, tweeted, “Serious question: could there possibly be any greater poetic justice in the universe than for Trump to die of the #CPACvirus?” Imagine if he had tweeted that about Barack Obama. Fortunately, given the outrage sparked by his tweet, Szoka was forced to resign.
Because Trump dared to note that — based on CDC data for 2017-18 — up to 45 million Americans contracted the regular flu and more than 12,000 died from it, CBS Late Show host Stephen Colbert railed that the president is an “idiot,” and added, “You’re a monster!”
In the same vein, author Stephen King tweeted, “Donald Trump: the man is an idiot. That’s who we have in charge during this crisis: an idiot.”
The coronavirus is a serious health issue. Americans will rally together as a nation to defeat it and save lives. But the liberal media don’t see it that way. It’s political to them, a means they can use to tear down President Trump and cripple his chance of reelection. That is their only goal.

Founder and President
On March 13, I met with the MRC staff and told everyone that we were going to continue with business as usual at the organization. The following Monday, we heard the update from the president, and we’ve decided we need to make some changes. So, as of March 18 we are going to go into virtual-work mode.
BITS & PIECES
Despite indications that Joe Biden might be experiencing some mental decline — bouts of memory loss and yelling at a voter, “you’re full of s**t!” — Yahoo! News lined up liberal psychologists to declare that Trump is the real danger.
Minibits
Ex-Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham warns that President Trump “veers from unthinkable to unthinkable to unthinkable” but Joe Biden is “the most human of people, genuine … much more part of the vernacular of presidential leadership.”
BYE-BYE, CHRIS! The Worst of Matthews
After 23 years at CNBC and MSNBC, liberal commentator/reporter Chris Matthews was “retired” — read: fired — as the host of Hardball. Some of his compliments to younger women over the years at MSNBC caught up with him in the #MeToo culture, but his sharp criticism of socialist Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) also played a role in his career’s demise.
